"Here's to another good year," Rodney said. He lifted his glass of not-champagne.
John lifted his glass, "Agreed!"
"We're still alive. And together," he said softly.
That both of those were true was a source of amazement.
It took a mission-gone-bad where John was badly hurt for Rodney to finally admit his feelings for John. John's whispered me, too made Rodney's eyes shine.
Putting their lives together was alternately awkward and seamless. They had been friends for so long that becoming lovers was almost inevitable
"Here's to a long life," Rodney offered another toast.
"Together," John murmured against his lips.
