Prompt: #30: Fruitcake/figgy pudding
Summary: "It's... surprisingly good," he admitted.
This was written and posted elsewhere on Sunday when LJ was crumbling underneath us.... one more after this!
Severus took a tentative nibble at the fruitcake. Then a bigger bite.
"It's... surprisingly good," he admitted.
Harry beamed. "Mrs. Weasely gave me her recipe. I used that as a starting place."
"In my experience, most fruitcake is..." Severus hesitated.
"Awful," Harry laughed. "I know. So I had to try something different."
"I didn't know you could bake like this," Severus stated, taking another bite.
Harry shrugged. "Learned to cook at the Dursleys'," he said. "Did some baking there and learned how to make do with whatever ingredients were on hand."
Severus took another bite. It melted in his mouth.
"If you can do this," Severus waved the slice of cake about, "why were you so bad at potions?"
Harry gave a rueful laugh and shrugged. "Dunno," he said. He gave a sly look at Severus. "Although my teacher wasn't very helpful either."
"Harry..." Severus started.
Harry waved him silent. "Don't worry about it," he leaned in for a small kiss. "I know perfectly well it's not the same. If I put ingredients together in the wrong order or don't measure quite accurately, nothing's going to explode."
"True," Severus replied.
Harry took a bite of the cake in Severus' hand.
"I thought that was my piece!" Severus brought the slice to his chest.
Harry grinned. "There's plenty," he said. "I made two cakes."
"If you persist in eating my share," Severus moved closer to Harry, "I may have to take action."
"Oh, really?" Harry closed the gap. "I think I should be afraid."
"Oh, you should," Severus growled. "You really should."
He placed his hands on Harry's hips, bringing them together. Harry's arms wound around his neck and Severus leaned in to kiss Harry firmly.
"What else can you make?" Severus asked.
"Come to bed, I can make you come..."
