The cheerful Christmas wreath on the door of 12 Grimmauld Place didn't help.
Harry had tried his best, cleaning and clearing and decorating. Harry had found someone on Diagon Alley to trade out dark, heavy furniture. He commissioned Bill Weasley to break or take away whatever cursed objects were lying about. He got Kreacher to help him clear out the attic. Mrs. Weasley offered cleaning and decorating advice.
And it had too many memories. Good and bad, mostly bad.
The house was just tired, and not really his. He wasn't a Black, only the current owner. It made a difference.
"Severus?" Harry asked, slightly nervously. "I'd like some advice."
Severus looked up from his Potions Journal.
"I'd like to put the house in Teddy's name and, well, move someplace else," he stuttered.
"Where would you like to go?" Severus asked neutrally.
"Anywhere," Harry sighed. Then took a sly look at Severus. "Anywhere you'd come with me."
"Harry," Severus gave his own sigh. "We've already had that discussion."
"I know," Harry said solemnly. "But I don't want to make this sort of a decision without you."
"I would not miss this house," Severus admitted.
"We could build," Harry offered. "A home."
