Summary: "What Christmas tradition do you miss most?"

Note: For Adventdrabbles on Insane Journal; Day 01. Let's see if I can do even half of these!

"What Christmas tradition do you miss most?" John asked.

"Gingerbread." Rodney said.

"You miss gingerbread?" John asked, surprised.

Rodney shifted slightly, in a way that told John it was important.

"Jeannie made a gingerbread house one year, she was probably ten," Rodney said. "It was a disaster, kept falling down and what did stand up was crooked. But to her it was a palace."

John leaned over, putting his shoulder against Rodney's solid frame. There really was nothing to say but John could be there.

Rodney leaned back. They looked up at the stars above Atlantis together in companionable silence.

Of course John understands what Rodney doesn't say.

(I have a little experience with the wobbly sort of gingerbread house *g*)
Aw, I can suddenly picture Rodney offering unwanted engineering advice, and stealing frosting, and shoring up crumbling walls when no one was looking.

Nice, very nice. I'm looking forward to the rest of these!
This was as sweet as gingerbread houses are palaces to a ten year old.

Aw this is lovely, definitely the kind of memory that would resurface when you're far from home, I wonder what John misses...
Aww! I love this peek into sentimental, nostalgic side of Rodney, ♥! So lovely, thanks for sharing!
