Feel free to play along!
1. What is the best book you have ever read? Why did you like it?
This is hard!
I have to go with "The Black Stallion", which I read when I was a kid. It was a magical book, with horses, young Alex saving himself and The Black, and then winning a special race at the end. It was easy to see myself in that book, doing all the amazing things Alex did.
I doubt it stands up to my adult eye now, but I remember it fondly.
2. What is your favorite kind of weather? Why?
Warm, but not hot, sunny days. Even 40 degrees like today is okay, if it's sunny and dry, but I do prefer mid 70's and low 80's (F). I've put my bike away for the winter, but days like today tempt me to get it out of the basement. But there aren't enough of these days at this time of year... it's too wen and yucch most of the winter.
3. If you had $100,000, how would you spend it?
I'd love to take a 2 week cruise in the "owner's suite" -- with all the bells and whistles, butlers, and pampering. The suite usually handles 4-8 people, so I could take some family along to enjoy the luxury.
Or I'd buy a 'mobile home' (one that really has wheels) and go on the road for a couple of months. I'd mostly stay in hotels (I am not the camping type!), but having my own home on wheels would let me stay wherever the wind would take me and take more of my own 'things' than just a car would let me have on the road. There's a lot of US and Canada I've never seen and this would be one way to do that.
(And, heck, I could visit some of you along the way!)
Then I'd donate some extra money to a couple of organizations I support.
4. Did you ever meet a famous person?
Hmmm... 'fame' is relative. I did meet Ben Bova and Anne McCaffrey one time, over dinner no less. I was relatively young, maybe 20, when it happened, and while I knew how special that dinner was, all I can do now is hope I didn't come across as a silly young thing.
5. Were you ever in a helicopter, limousine, racecar, hot-air balloon, submarine, horse-drawn carriage?
I've done a limo a couple of times. The sister-in-law got a limo for a dinner out for her hubby's birthday and we went with them. Also, I was traveling out of town with a group and we were going to a baseball game and renting a limo for the trip to downtown was less expensive than three cabs!
I did a horse-drawn carriage in NYC Central Park at Christmas time once. We were on a 'ladies shopping trip' and we were in Central Park and we decided to treat ourselves. It was fun!
And does the '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' ride at Disney count as a submarine? ::grin::
